Today was the fourth day of our Costa Rica trip. Last night ended gracefully with a bullet ant in colin's bed and a lot of screaming because someone left the door open. So, you can guess that it was a very tiring and long night. Everyone was anxious and was up tight for the only night. We started off early and ate lots of mini hotcakes and sausage. The first activity we did was going to a soccer camp where we played an "international match" against a Costa Rica team. These kids were from the age of 12-16. But, we mainly learned from them because they beat us 10-3 approximately. After all of this running, some of us also played in the river to cool off. But, I didn't go into the river because I wanted to take a shower right away. For lunch, we had some Costa Rican hamburgers with a corn tortilla as the bun. For the burgers, you had a choice to beef burger or lentils burger. When Liam was getting up to grab his food, Chase and I poured a ton of hot sauce in his drink. Liam didn't expect anything, but decided to look in his water before he drank it, which led him to get a different cup of water. After lunch, we had a spanish scavenger hunt where we searched for objects and people around the lodge and took pictures. Angela's group won of course, but it was still a fun activity. Next, we had the dark chocolate tour. We learned how to make chocolate, we learned the history of chocolate and it's origins, and, the best part, we taste-tested each process. At the end, we got to create our own hot chocolate by adding ingredients to the hot chocolate. For me, this included milk, vanilla, sugar, and hot sauce. I found that this combination was very good. Then, we went to a Costa Rican store to get ice cream when I met a dog that really liked to chew on my water bottle. Then, we got back to the lodge and hung out with a little dog named Brie Brie which really hates Liam but really likes me. Then we had dinner which included lots of mashed potatoes. Overall, this was a very fun-filled day.

P.S. Colin wants to inform Jack that he can not find the special purple pot that you told him to look for, and wants to know where it is.
Wonderful post Jake! Love all the details - especially details about what you are all eating. Everything sounds delicious. You have a tough palette to handle all the hot sauce!! "Muy picante y muy CALIENTE!!!! (is this correct?)
ReplyDeleteI would haveiked to have seen you guys play against the international soccer team.
ReplyDeleteJake- I think I would have enjoyed your hot sauce chocolate too. Hopefully you got a better night's sleep last night. That soccer game would have been fun to watch. Looking forward to seeing what you do today.
ReplyDeleteTo Colin, From Jack.
ReplyDeleteJack says to walk from the cafeteria to the uncovered gravel path, keep walking forward, while looking left. It's on the corner of one of the buildings. He said that is isn't purple, and it has a flower in it. Randell pointed it out to Jack's group. If he hasn't pointed it out, it may not be there anymore.
To Jack, from Colin:
DeleteRandall and I searched around a bit and found a plant that could be used as a makeshift toilet paper, and when it is cut and you put the liquid on the inside on your tongue, your tongue will go numb. Is this it?
