The bugs here are plentiful and usually scary. Last night, SOMEONE LEFT THE DOOR OPEN. When we got into our room, there was the only bug that scares our guide, Randall, a bullet ant. It is a huge ant which has a bite that supposedly feels like getting shot. The ant was sitting right on Colin's bed. Right when Chase went into our room, he came out screaming. We had to get Randall to take it out of our room. For the rest of the night, everyone except Yohannes and Christian were cautious about everything. After a very scary night, we finally forgot about it and went on with our day. After we had a breakfast with Costa Rican pancakes, we headed over to a soccer field to play against a Costa Rican team. They were HUGE. They were really good too so we got crushed. I think they scored about 10 goals on us. I tried to get the ball from this 6 foot tall kid, I got the ball, but I also fell and it hurt a lot. When we got back, after taking showers, we had a meeting. Right when I put my seat down for the meeting, I went to sit, but Chase had taken the seat out from under me. I didn't realise he did, so I had fallen right to the ground. For the rest of the day, my back had hurt from me falling. The meeting was a scavenger hunt to see how our spanish is going. I didn't really help, because I didn't know what half the words meant, we did well but still, we obviously lost to Angela's group. After the scavenger hunt meeting, we walked to a cacao farm not too far away from the lodge we were staying in. The cacao beans and chocolate nibs were so bitter and not very good. But then we tasted some real chocolate and it was very tasty. When it was over Colin bought four big chocolate bars for 16 dollars. Then we came back to the lodge and got some free time at the end of the day.

Great post Liam! BE SURE THE DOOR IS CLOSED TONIGHT! A "bullet" ant sounds horrible...
ReplyDeletePlease don't bring one home. Bring as much chocolate as you can, but NO bullet ants!!
Okay, so if the bullet ant scares Randall, it REALLY REALLY scares mom!!! Please keep the doors closed. Yikes, Colin, $16 worth of chocolate. I hope you save some for me. I'll have to get back to you about the purple pot. Jack is sleeping. He has a stomach virus, so I guess it is a good week for you to be away. I'll ask him tomorrow for details about the pot. Night, night! Love you!
ReplyDeleteColin - I'm glad you're not afraid of bugs! Looks like you're having a great time. It looks hot down there. You missed the snow today (it stuck to the the grass for a little while). Love, Dad.
ReplyDeleteLiam- Sounds like you all are having a great time, and the peskiest of all bugs seemed to be your two legged cabin mate friends, so you probably haven't missed Colby. He is having a good time skiing. Henry broke his wrist doing a big jump. Spike misses his cuddles and sharing your chair at dinner. Carlin misses you but not Colby.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the pictures and evening posts. We look forward to them. It will be warm weather when you get home. I'd send you updates on your brackets if I could understand them, but I can tell you aren't winning in the overall standings. MD won in a nail biter 79-74. ¡Que the diviertas!
Love, Mom, Dad, and Carlin
A bullet ant sounds worst than a scorpion!!
ReplyDeleteTaylor and Christian - happy 14th birthday to you both! Remind everyone there how truly special you both are! We miss you around here Taylor but hope you are having a great time! I watched a video on those bullet ants, I would have freaked out!
ReplyDeleteOlney magic won their first two games in the tournament but then today's games were cancelled due to all the rain and snow we got! Yasi scored too!
Can't wait to get my call today! Love you, mom, dad, bear,Jesse,Toby,Henry, etc
Happy Birthday Tay and Christian!!! Hope you are having fun!

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Taylor and Christian!
ReplyDeleteI think I do not like bullet ants. Never met one so maybe that's not nice to say. Perhaps they are nice little fellas and maybe just misunderstood. :)
Have fun today!
My man Liam. I hope you're having a good time. Make sure to shout out my mixtape with your new costa rican buddies. Ronin is on the rise.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck
